Tia has worked as a registered clinical counsellor in a private practice and university setting for over 13 years. She holds a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. Tia has a wealth of experience with youth, adults, and other diverse client populations who have often been faced with traumatic experiences and dealing with complex therapeutic issues.
Once she becomes familiar with her client's life challenges and goals she creatively tailors her therapeutic approach. Her therapeutic approach relies heavily on neuroscience, evidence-based interventions, and the natural healing processes of the body and mind. She has special interests in Trauma-Informed Care, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Body (somatic)-Based Trauma interventions combined with Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.
Her specialized training includes Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR trauma therapy) Level 1, Critical Incident Group Debriefing, Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator (TCTSY-F) certification, Neurobiology of Feeling Safe (Interpersonal Neurobiology) Level 1 & 2, and Advanced Clinical Trauma-Informed Interventions for Counselling First Nation/Indigenous Clients.
